6 Myths and Facts About Fat

Now many people are starting to make friends with fat, having previously considered as evil nutrients. Coconut oil began to fill the shelves in shops and meat consumption during the diet increased.

However, it is a question a lot of people, really fat in butter and beef healthy? So that no misconceptions about fat again, following myths about fat that needs to be removed.

Myth: Eating Fat Make You Fat.
Fact: Fat can make you full faster, so eat less.

"It is true that fat has more calories per gram than carbohydrates and protein, but eating fat is part of a healthy lifestyle. Fat in the consumption of a balanced diet will not make you fat," said Michelle Babb, MS, RD, author of Anti-Inflammatory Eating Made Easy.

Fat digested more slowly than carbohydrates and stimulate the release of satiety hormones, which can keep you from overeating. In fact, in one study, participants who ate fat diet, lost 2 kilograms in 18 months, while those who do low-fat diet to lose 1.5 kilograms.

Moreover, fat plays a positive role in the body, ranging from the production of hormones for optimal brain function and helps the absorption of nutrients.

Myth: Saturated fat clogs arteries and causes heart attacks.
Fact: The study did not confirm the opinion that eating butter and red meat leads to heart attacks.

For decades we have been "indoctrinated" that the saturated fat in butter, cheese, and red meat can clog arteries and lead to heart attacks. However, a study in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine found no direct relationship between eating saturated fat with increased risk of heart attack.

One study even found that higher levels of saturated fat is associated with a lower risk of heart disease. But that does not mean saturated fats are a healthy food, it's just not a sin. In essence, varied meal is key to health.

Myth: Butter is a nasty food.
Fact: A little butter on the food is not bad.

A recent study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that sufficient intake of butter can be an important part of a healthy diet. But, this does not mean freedom smearing your daily snack with butter, eat lots of bread, and as a sauce on the vegetables so that feels good. "Do not overdo it," Babb warned.

Myth: Eggs and improve the blood cholesterol.
Fact: Cholesterol in food does not have a direct impact on the increase of cholesterol in the blood.

U.S. Dietary Guidelines Committee Advice recently canceling its recommendation to limit foods with high cholesterol, because the blood cholesterol produced by the liver, so that what you eat has little impact on the level of cholesterol in the blood. Myth: Olive oil is the healthiest source of fat.
Fact: We need all kinds of fat in our diet to be healthy.

Olive oil is a monounsaturated fat with abundant health benefits, but limit yourself to only eat one kind of fat like only eat one type of vegetable.

"Eating a variety of foods that contain fat such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado, and salmon provide plenty of opportunity to get the benefits of essential fatty acids and phytosterols that protect the body against disease," said Babb.

Just make sure to avoid artificial trans fats that often appear with the name on the label margarine, hydrogenated oils, packaged pastries, and coffee cream because they may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
